High School: Grades 9-12

The St. Anthony School’s High School program provides students in grades 9–12 with a structured, supportive, and individualized learning environment designed to prepare them for life beyond high school.

Our high school students benefit from small class sizes, certified teachers, individualized academic plans, and integrated therapeutic support. Instruction is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) while remaining flexible enough to meet each student's academic, social-emotional, and learning needs.

As students progress through high school, our focus gradually shifts toward increased independence, self-advocacy, organization, and preparation for life after graduation. Students are encouraged to understand their individual strengths and challenges, communicate their needs, and take an increasingly active role in their education.

A Personalized High School Experience

High school students enter the program with a wide range of academic abilities and learning profiles. Rather than expecting every student to follow the same path, we use assessment data, classroom performance, and ongoing observation to determine the appropriate level of instruction and support. Our goal is to provide the right balance of structure, challenge, and support at every stage of a student's high school experience.

The St. Anthony School follows a standards-based curriculum aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Our certified teachers adapt instruction using research-based and multisensory strategies so that students can access meaningful, appropriately challenging academic content.

Accreditation

The St. Anthony School is a fully accredited educational institution through the Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS), and all curriculum is fully aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

Preparing Students for What Comes Next

The high school years are about more than earning credits and completing coursework. They are a time for students to discover their strengths, build confidence, develop independence, and begin preparing for life beyond The St. Anthony School. As students move into their junior and senior years, that preparation becomes increasingly intentional. We work closely with each student to help identify the path that best fits their individual strengths, interests, abilities, and goals. For some students, that may mean college or other post-secondary education. For others, it may include vocational training, employment, career preparation, or a greater focus on independent living skills.

Rather than waiting until graduation to begin thinking about the future, we introduce these skills, conversations, and experiences while students are still supported within the high school environment. Through individualized academics, therapeutic support, social-emotional development, transition planning, and meaningful opportunities to practice real-world skills, students are encouraged to take an increasingly active role in their education and future.

Our TEKS-approved curriculum encompasses:

Science instruction emphasizes exploration, inquiry, and real-world application in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science. Students engage in hands-on experiments, interactive activities, virtual learning experiences, and other opportunities to investigate scientific concepts and develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

English instruction develops students’ skills in vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, written expression, and critical thinking. Students engage with a variety of texts and writing activities while receiving individualized instruction and feedback to strengthen their communication skills.

Mathematics instruction is individualized based on each student’s current skills and initial assessment. Students may progress through courses including algebra 1 and 2, geometry, and financial algebra, with instruction and pacing adjusted as students demonstrate growth and readiness for increasingly complex concepts.

History instruction helps students understand people, places, events, and ideas that have shaped our world. Through interactive lessons, projects, discussions, and experiential learning opportunities, students explore U.S. and world history, geography, government, and economics while developing research, analysis, and critical-thinking skills.
