We Serve the Misunderstood Child
A “misunderstood child” is a bright, capable student with unique strengths who simply hasn’t been given the right support to thrive. In a traditional classroom, their needs related to learning differences or emotional regulation may go unnoticed, causing behaviors such as anxiety, frustration, inattention, or inconsistent performance to be misinterpreted as lack of effort or poor behavior. These children aren’t struggling because they don’t care—they’re struggling because their symptoms are communicating unmet needs. At The St. Anthony School, we recognize and honor who these students truly are, providing the understanding, specialized instruction, and therapeutic support that helps them feel seen, valued, and able to succeed.
How We Support Every Learner
To meet the needs of these misunderstood students, The St. Anthony School offers a fully integrated support system that includes therapists, certified special education teachers, and skilled behavior specialists working in partnership every day. Our clinical staff maintains ongoing communication with outside therapists, physicians, and parents to ensure we have a complete, holistic understanding of each child. This collaboration allows us to align strategies across home, school, and outside services, creating a consistent, well-coordinated plan that supports the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally—so every student has the opportunity to thrive.
*Please note that as of Spring 2022, we serve grades 3-12. The brochure has outdated information. We apologize for any confusion.*
